Your smile is one of your most important features! A winning smile can help influence a potential job, a date, and perhaps even a business deals. If you have stained, broken, or uneven teeth cosmetic dentistry can help transform your smile.
Cosmetic dentistry is different than orthodontics or general dentistry because it improves the overall look of your teeth and gums and/or improve your teeth’s size and shape. If your teeth have weathered years of use, cosmetic dentistry can transform your solution painlessly with a few simple treatments. There are several types of cosmetic dentistry treatments and at Dental Care of Mid-Florida, we utilize Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) for many of our cosmetic procedures.
If your ready for a smile makeover, here are some treatment options to discuss with your dentist:
- Teeth Whitening:
Teeth whitening is one of the simplest and most inexpensive procedures to improve your smile especially if your teeth have been stained by coffee, tea, and soft drinks. By bleaching your teeth, your teeth can return to its naturally white condition in minutes.
- Dental Bonding:
Dental bonding is ideal if you have cracked, decayed, or misshapen teeth and is a cosmetic alternative to amalgam or silver filings.
Veneers are a paper-thin shell placed over the tooth and bonded to it changing the tooth’s length and appearance. Veneers used to take multiple visits to complete the procedure but with our CEREC machine veneers can be created during one visit.
- Inlays and Onlays:
An inlay or onlay is a cosmetic alternative to a crown procedure that preserve as much of the original tooth as possible. Our CEREC machine will design a tooth that closely matches the original color of the tooth, which is than applied to the inside of the tooth (inlay) or the biting side of the tooth (onlay).
Implants are needed if you are missing a tooth, experience jaw pain, have problems chewing, or have dentures that need repair. A naturally looking dental implant, usually made from titanium – is surgically implanted in your upper or lower jaw. With good dental hygiene, dental implants are low maintenance and may only need occasional re-tightening.
- Porcelain Crowns:
If a tooth is heavily damaged and veneers aren’t an option, a porcelain crown can save your tooth. In simple terms, a crown is like a cap that is placed over the tooth and the procedure is done if your tooth is weak, broken or cracked and needs to be held together, to cover and support a tooth with a large filling if the tooth has largely decayed, to support a dental bridge, to create a dental implant or for cosmetic reasons.
